'Persephone's Fall' (2021) is a fantasy come-up in film.

 

Blonde, red lipped and pink fur coated, Persephone is vain in her high. She poses her jewel encrusted face with a big grin and hair blowing. In another view, we only see her heart shaped mouth be fed pomelo, black grape and pomegranate by a pair of green, manicured hands. She is only delicate in her pace while her bites are strong and still baring a grin of mischief.

 

Luxury is within my understanding as a type of fantasy, and using ripe, unusual fruit and Persephone's glamour is how I depicted such. In this fantasy, there are no consequences to consuming, only the overexaggerated benefits of it. In this fantasy, youth, glamour and confidence are all obtainable in our consumer habits.

 

Through satire and exaggeration, this work ponders the dissatisfaction we as consumers experience. In reality, Persephone is an addict in a wonderous high, tricked into an appetite to find a version of herself.
