'Man of...' (2024) is a tribute to my late father.

I wanted to create something honouring his personality and vibrancy. Using found but meaningful objects, such as the flowers, allowed me to create something with ease. The Matthiola Incana had came home with me after a shift and coincidentally the last day I saw my Dad. The lilies were a condolence gift. 

I had created something appearing symmetrical, that soon realises as asymmetrical the longer you look. A similar idea relating to my Dad, assuming from first glance and being proven wrong the longer you'd spend with him.

I like to think he would appreciate the colour of the flowers in this piece. He probably would suggest I used lavender instead, and suggested a colour for the background like BRRRRIGHT ORRINGE.
