​The wiser, gentler, still strange but vivid, sister to 'GORGEOUS', meet 'PRETTY DEUX' (2020).

 

Two channelled and silent, I used footage deriving from the same time spent in Studio 122 for 'GORGEOUS'. Whilst our concentration is split between two views, it steps away from symmetry and ambiguity. One grape is dissected by a pair of green, manicured hands as some sort of blobby substance pollutes the image.

 

The formula of visceral imagery combined with femininity creates an uncertain response to the work. Both are types of media I enjoy consuming as a viewer. Merging the gross with the glamourous was a way for me to depict narratives, such as the façade of commercialism: purposefully enticing with hidden, grim intentions.
